University Students

Stort Physio Acadamy

Stort Physio Academy has been set up to provide higher level education for both undergraduate and post graduate student physiotherapists and allied health professionals.

We have been providing Clinical Education for universities in London and the South East running undergraduate Bsc (Hons) degree courses in Physiotherapy, Sports Therapy and Sport Rehabilitation over the last 20 years.

In 2011,2012 and 2014, we hosted the international post graduate courses for the Watson Headache Institute of Australia and Dean Watson will again be running Levels 1, 2 and the new 3rd level courses in May 2015.

We will also be developing other courses with international and UK speakers covering a range of other topics, treatment protocols and specialist work.

We are currently developing our own post graduate physiotherapy courses and will be starting these, at the latest, by 2015.

We start at 9 am and finish at 5.30pm Mondays to Fridays

Read up on the spine, sacro-iliac joint dysfunctions and Interferential Therapy in particular as we see a lot of patients with spinal problems and nearly everyone has IFT included in their treatment programme (we seldom use IFT for pain relief alone!)
Patient appointments are not limited by time, so you will have as much time as required to carry out detailed subjective and objective examinations. Our clinical staff are here to help you - and the patients, understand precisely what is going on and how we can best treat the condition.
As you will see from other pages in this website, we do not have individual lists of patients. This means that patients, and students, will have access to a multi-disciplinary team. In other words, we use everybody’s expertise to get the best results we can for our patients.
Sometimes patients do not want to see students. This is their choice and they may just feel uncomfortable discussing their problems with a student. Please don’t take it personally!

The clinical philosophy of Stort Physio is heavily based in Orthopaedic Medicine (Cyriax), pain management as per Butler and Moseley (Explain Pain, Sensitive Nervous System etc) and we use many of Prof Stuart McGill’s exercises and approaches to Spinal Stabilisation.
